FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What type of personal injury claims do you handle?

A: We handle all types of personal injury claims, including accidents involving automobiles, motorcycles, tractor trailers and boats. We also handle workers' compensation and toxic mold damage cases and many other cases in which people have been hurt by the reckless, negligent or intentional conduct of others.

Q:How soon after a personal injury accident should I call you?

A: Immediately. Do not give the other person’s insurance company a statement until you have talked to an attorney. If you have been hurt and call us, we will be glad to discuss the facts of your case with you to determine whether you even need an attorney. If we can help you, we will immediately begin working to develop a strong case for the protection of your right to full and fair compensation.

Q: What is my claim worth?

A: This depends on the severity and permanency of your injuries. Contact us now for a free consultation. While it is often not possible to evaluate the amount for which we intend to seek recovery, we thoroughly analyze all aspects of your injuries, treatment and outlook for the future to make sure that we protect your family and you.

Q: Should I accept an offer provided by the insurance company?

A: Unfortunately, insurance companies sometimes try to talk you into a quick settlement that looks good at the time but turns out to be inadequate if your injuries are worse than believed right after an accident. We never recommend a settlement to any of our clients that we believe does not fully protect them, given the circumstances of their individual cases.

Q: What if the other driver had no insurance?

A: If you have uninsured motorist coverage, we will pursue full recovery for your medical bills, lost income and pain and suffering even if the other driver had no insurance. We also fully investigate whether the uninsured person who caused your injuries has other sources of recovery to compensate you.

Q: How do I know if I have a good auto accident or personal injury case?

A: Please call us. We can discuss your case. We are glad to give you our best opinion about whether it should be pursued.

Q: How long does it take to settle a personal injury case?

A: It depends on the nature of the claim. The process can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to months or longer. We can discuss this important point about your case. We are glad to give you an estimation of time to successfully conclude your case.

Q: Will I have to go to trial?

A: The vast majority of personal injury cases don’t go to trial. However, we treat each case as if it is going to trial. We prepare each case thoroughly, because we are willing to go to trial to maximize your settlement when we believe you are not being treated fairly. As to expenses other than attorney fees that are paid by us to fully prepare your case, we await reimbursement of those out of your successful recovery in most cases. Also, we make it a point to discuss such expenses with you before incurring them because we believe that it is important for you to be informed of the critical steps necessary to get the best results for you.

Q: Do I need a North Carolina injury lawyer?

A: Insurance companies are in business to make a profit. Their goal is to pay you as little as possible. It is tough for someone who is not familiar with personal injury cases and the law to know what a fair settlement amount is. An experienced North Carolina personal injury attorney can help you to determine that amount and reach a full and fair settlement.

Q: How are you paid?

A: I handle all of my personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. This means I get paid an attorney fee only if you get paid. I do not ask for any attorney fees up front. If there is no recovery, there is no fee.

Q: What parts of North Carolina do you handle cases in?

A: We have and continue to represent injured people throughout the state of North Carolina. We are fully prepared to investigate and litigate those cases that warrant our involvement statewide.
